A private interior in the attic

Sunny evening is the best time of the day to be in this apartment: golden rays of sun light up its warm natural hues, from sandy beiges to bright lemony yellows and burgundies.

Sunset sky can be seen from ten windows with two of them installed in the roof of this apartment, situated in the attic of a 19th century house. The building was initially constructed to house civil services and then the offices were refurbished into living spaces. The attic was severely damaged, nevertheless, we have managed to restore the wooden ceiling and preserve the original brickwork.

The heart of this space is the living room — kitchen, bedroom and service rooms are gathered around its outline.

The main attraction of the interior is a ceiling-tall shelving system which stores the library and art objects as well as functions as the dividing module

Choice of colour for the shelving system mimics the colour-blocking of this interior: the walls are painted neutral beige at the eye level, with bright-yellow ceiling towering above. This solution visually fills the large attic space and adds a bit of brightness even in the darkest days

In the bedroom we have applied contrast to the texture, combining cloth wallpaper with matte paint, although a pop of deep yellow appears in the wardrobe curtains and headboard upholstery.

Elaborate geometry of the apartment has encouraged us to use a weaving motif. It can be seen in combination of textures, checkerboard tile layout, as well as in the strict patterns of textile shutters and finishing materials

Our team has been involved in this project during every stage of work, from concept to decoration: as the result, this concept has been preserved even in the smallest of details.

Art marks the important points of the interior: the boundaries between finishing materials, geometry and practical zoning of the space.

Some of the artworks have already been in our clients’ collection, and some were chosen by our team especially for the project
